The Wikiup’s Are Finally Done! November 12, 2008

A wikiup is what they called a wigwam, before they were called a “wigwam” (Indian home in the North Easter region of the USA & Canada) by the European settlers. We started working on them a little over a week ago. A friend of ours is doing it with us. We are having a lot of fun!!

The night of the Pow-wow November 9, 2008

The members of the Rischoey Tribe

They were so cute out there by the fire, dancing, singing, and pretending to be Indians.  The tribe name is Rischoey.  Something that I came up with.  It is a combination of Roe & Ischy.  Our last name and the last name of the other famly we coop with.

This night/day was a big day for us.  We cooked authentic Native American food.  Played lacrosse, (from homemade lacrosse sticks, from willow branches,) and dressed as Native Americans (homemade as well).  Danced around a fire, (that was started “survivor man style” by my DH, no matches needed here!!!).  Had authentic Native American music playing,  while we danced and pretended to be Indians.   So much fun!!
